It has been announced that Facebook has added a new social button called ‘Send’ to its already popular line-up of social buttons. This is similar to the popular ‘Like’ button, but instead allows you to share information (for example, web links etc) more readily – they can even add a message about the link.

The ‘Like’ button simply posts on the users Wall with a straightforward link. It’s very generic but we all know it works well because its so simple.

According to the developers section of Facebook: “The Send Button allows your users to easily send your content to their friends. People will have the option to send your URL in an inbox message to their Facebook friends, to the group wall of any Facebook group they are a member of, and as an email to any email address.”

“While the Like Button allows users to share your content with all of their friends, the Send Button allows them to send a private message to just a few friends.”

More than 50 major sites have already launched the “send” button including Orbitz.

Facebook is evolving with regular new additions – including the integration of Facebook Questions which allows users to pose questions to users.

This new addition to the social button line-up means, in essence, a more targeted approach as people who use it, will be sending the information to people who they think will want to know about it.

You may ask, what can travel do with this? Well that’s simple, add it to your offer pages, email newsletters and anywhere that has interesting content. By simply adding this button to your pages, you’re allowing your users to do more targeted marketing on your behalf – which everyone is sure to jump on board with!
